Does SimpleLM send my chats to the cloud?

Accepted Answer

No. Generation runs on your device through Aperture on Apple Metal. Your messages, documents, and prompts are not sent to our servers in readable form. If you turn on iCloud Sync with Pro, only encrypted copies travel through your personal iCloud account via CloudKit.

Do I need an account?

Accepted Answer

No account is required. There is no email login or Sign in with Apple for a SimpleLM identity. You can set a display name and assistant preferences locally during onboarding. Those choices shape how the app talks to you. They are not an account record on our servers.

What is context memory?

Accepted Answer

Each chat keeps its own long-term memory on your device. Recent turns stay verbatim. Older meaning can be recalled when you return to a conversation. On Pro, a single chat can grow up to one million tokens. That memory stays on your phone or iPad, not on a rented cloud context window.

What happens when my Free context runs out?

Free includes 8,192 tokens of context in total. When that budget is used, you cannot start a new chat or continue existing ones until you upgrade to Pro. Your past chats remain on your device. Pro removes that cap and gives each chat up to one million tokens of context.

Question 5

What is the difference between Free and Pro?

Both plans include on-device chat, projects, document Q&A, and Roles. Pro adds one million tokens of context per chat, unlimited projects and documents, Voice (dictation, spoken replies, and Voice Orbit), Vision and OCR, iCloud Sync across your Apple devices, and full chat import from other assistants.

Does SimpleLM work offline?

Yes for core chat. Once models are loaded on your device, you can keep talking without a network connection. Some features need the network at times. Speech recognition may use Apple’s service when on-device recognition is unavailable, and iCloud Sync obviously needs iCloud. Pro Voice Orbit and generation itself stay local.

How does iCloud Sync work?

iCloud Sync is a Pro feature. When enabled, selected data is encrypted on your device before it is stored in your private iCloud database through CloudKit. We cannot read that ciphertext. Memory indexes and vector data are rebuilt locally on each device. They are not copied as raw search indexes through sync.

Are Roles autonomous agents?

No. Roles are personas, not independent agents. Solo applies one voice to your message. Panel returns a few labeled replies from different angles in the same thread. They run on device. Heavier multi-agent modes on our roadmap are not part of today’s product promises.

Question 9

Can I import ChatGPT or Claude history?

Accepted Answer

Yes on Pro. Export a conversation archive from the other service, bring it into SimpleLM, and the app parses it on your device. Messages are ingested into chats and context memory locally. Imported threads are labeled so you know where they came from. Free may show a preview, but full import requires Pro.

Are my project documents uploaded to your servers?

Accepted Answer

No. Projects and documents live in the app sandbox on your device. Text is extracted, chunked, and indexed locally so the assistant can answer from your files. With Pro sync enabled, encrypted document metadata and content may be stored in your iCloud account. We do not operate a document cloud for SimpleLM.

Question 11

How do I manage or cancel Pro?

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. Open Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, or use Apple’s subscription management page on the web. We do not receive your card details. Canceling Pro stops renewal at the end of the current billing period.

Which devices are supported?

Accepted Answer

SimpleLM is built for iPhone and iPad on iOS. You need enough local storage for on-device models and your chats. Pro users can sync between Apple devices signed into the same iCloud account. There is no Android or web app version of SimpleLM today.

Why do you not name the underlying model?

Accepted Answer

SimpleLM is the product you talk to. The assistant is presented as SimpleLM, not as a parade of upstream model brands. What matters in daily use is that inference, memory, and your files stay on your device under your control.
